I was diagnosed on August 9th, 2005 with Ultra-rapid Cycling Bipolar Disorder. I swing often. It has been a struggle with my meds from the start. Side effects suck. I am a lot better with off with my medications though. I am on a quest to learn as much about my disorder that I can. I now major in Psychology to help along that path. I am now also beginning this blog to help me learn and cope. I was born March 31st, 1975. I have a wife and a boy and a girl. They put up with my mood swings. I will never be un-medicated again. Help me along my path.
I am a "21" right now, but at the top of my weight, because of psychiatric medications (Seroquel, what else?) I was "28.2". It's all about finding the right combo EVENTUALLY, when you feel stable, etc., figuring out when to take your meds (I know, you're rolling your eyes at me), and complaining to your doc EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU SEE HIM about your weight. I did that for YEARS until he finally put me on Zyprexa, which decreases my appetite. Topamax does too, but it depresses me? Zyprexa rocks - it's good for my bipolar symptoms.
I'm serious - scream and holler to your doc every time you see him about your weight. Eventually he'll get the idea. He won't suggest you stop taking the weight gainer (obviously, I'm still on Seroquel, right?), but maybe you'll both figure out the right dosage and another med that the will help with weight loss. Taking my weight gainer as I'm walking up the stairs to bed helps tremendously, too, so I don't eat house and home once it "kicks in".
